Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ
  • What is the purpose of SI Sport Divers?
    • SI Sport Divers offers an escape.  Our events and meetings allow our members to enjoy the sport they love.  Whether we are diving together or sharing stories about it - SCUBA is our priority.
  • If I'm not a member of SI Sport Divers, can I still attend events?
    • Absolutely, all are welcome!
  • Do I need to call ahead if I'd like to attend a monthly meeting?
    • No reservations needed, everyone is welcome.
  • If I am not a certified SCUBA diver, can I attend a meeting to find out more about the sport?
    • We are a very diverse club and encourage those interested to stop by our monthly meetings.
    • Our club members range from beginners to Master SCUBA Divers.
  • What happens at monthly meetings?
    • Our meetings begin at 6:30 PM so that members can mingle and trade stories about their underwater adventures.  After an hour of swapping stories about the world down under, a guest speaker typically gives a presentation.
  • Who are guest speakers?
    • Anyone who has a SCUBA story to share.  Generally speakers present photos and/or videos from their dive(s).
  • How much does it cost to be a member?
    • There is a $25 annual fee.
  • If I can't regularly attend the meetings, will I still be considered a member?
    • We understand that schedules are hectic and ever changing.  Regular attendance is not mandatory but once you start attending meetings, we have a feeling that you'll want to make it a permanent monthly appointment.
  • Where do dives take place?
    • During dive season, dives generally take place around the tri-state area.
    • Members often announce open dives and dive trips at monthly meetings.
    • Meetings are a great place to find new dive buddies!
  • Does SI Sport Divers recommend local dive shops?
    • We recommend Staten Island's Treshers dive shop.  For more information about Treshers, please visit http://treshers.com/.
